The Lincoln football team has officially shaken off some early-season woes, winning their last 7 games to earn a spot in the state semifinals. Last Thursday, the Washington Warriors were the latest victim as the Patriots cruised to a 42-7 victory behind 5 Brody Schafer touchdown passes and some stout defensive play.
Aside from the outstanding play from Schafer, a 3 year senior starter at quarterback, the Pats have been led by senior receivers Jace Weber and Everett Starks as well as the emergence of newcomer Brayden Jackson at running back. The defensive side of the ball has been much improved this season, with contributions and leaderships from seniors George Niederauer, Isaac Krempges, Ben Burchett, Dexter Johnson, and Jakobe Byrd. Sophomore Hudson Kok has also been stellar this year, leading the team in tackles. Junior Ethan Olson has been key on the Pats D as well, with 3 interceptions and 3 forced fumbles.
The road the Dome will go through Howard Wood Field, as Lincoln will play host to perennial foes in the Brandon Valley Lynx. Lincoln was able to beat BV earlier in the year, 34-25, but the teams are extremely evenly matched heading into Friday's game at 7:30 PM. Go Pats!
