It's CAT-apult Day! We're so excited to see everyone from 3pm-7pm. You'll notice we've added some beautiful artwork throughout the building for you to checkout while walking your schedules and meeting your teachers. See you soon!

Hey EMS Families! The Sioux Falls School District is transitioning to Bound.com as our athletics website. Through Bound, you can see our School Calendar, Register Athletes for Sports, see Game and Practice schedules, and much more! Attached is a PDF of a flyer with directions on how to sign up for ALL athletics this year! You can sign your student up for sports all year round today! There is a place where you must upload a completed physical as part of the registration of your student. If you have already brought in a completed physical OR if your athlete participated in athletics last year in the Sioux Falls School District you DO NOT need to upload a completed physical to Bound. Please upload the blank physical copy that is attached during your registration and LEAVE IT BLANK. If you HAVE NOT turned in a physical for your student and they have not participated in athletics before this school year, please upload your COMPLETED and SIGNED physical and medical history form (front and back side) during your registration on Bound. You will not need to turn in a physical copy to Edison if you complete this step! If you have any questions, please reach out to our Athletic Coordinator Tyler Robel at tyler.robel@k12.sd.us for further clarification. We are looking forward to a great year of Edison Athletics! GO CATS!

6th Grade WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) Orientation- THIS WEEK! Your Edison 6th grader is invited to attend a WEB Orientation on TOMORROW, August 14. WEB stands for Where Everybody Belongs and is designed to help 6th graders with the transition to middle school. Adult WEB Coordinators and 8th grade WEB leaders will spend 1.5 hours working with the 6th graders. When your child comes to the WEB Orientation on Wednesday, August 14, they will get to meet the 8th grade WEB leaders that will come to their homeroom once a month throughout the year. 6th graders will participate in some fun activities to help them get to know others from their homeroom, in addition to receiving a tour of the building. We hope your child can make it to this event! (No need to RSVP, just show up at the correct time! There is no cost for this event.). If your child IS in the Spanish Immersion program, their session is from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14.
If your child is NOT in the Spanish Immersion program, their session is from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14.
Please bring them to the correct session.
Please drop your child off at the NORTH ENTRANCE of Edison (the large parking lot). We prefer that they get dropped off between 8:15-8:30 for the first session, and between 10:15-10:30 for the second session.
Please pick your child up promptly at the time their session ends. (This event is only for STUDENTS.) 6th graders do not need to bring anything with them to the WEB Orientation. Encourage your child to attend!

The first day of school is just over a month away! More info on open houses to come soon, but for now, please save these dates! If you haven't yet completed the Annual Student Information Update, please do so here. https://www.sf.k12.sd.us/page/school-registration
See you soon!

Hello EMS Cat Families!
Has your student lost something at school over the past semester? If they did, we probably found it! We have a huge number of clothing items, water bottles, and other items collected in our lost and found. If you see something that is yours, please make sure to have your student pick it up soon! We will be donating any unclaimed items at the end of the week. Thank you and GO CATS!

Hey Cats!
We wanted to give a huge shout out to our Sioux Falls Middle School Poetry Slam contestants from Edison! They went out there, gave it their all, and brought the house down! We have some incredibly talented kids here at Edison and we are very proud of them! GO CATS!

For the second year in a row, the Sioux Falls School District is proud to be called one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association for Music Merchants Foundation. This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our teachers, the commitment of our students, and to the close ties that have grown together over the years in our music education community. As we celebrate this recognition, let us also celebrate the power of music to inspire, educate, and unite us all.

Wow! SFSD is so grateful to the Sioux Falls STORM, LEVO, and media partners KELOLand TV for supporting Operation Hope & Caring where $18,417 was raised to support elementary schools that don't have PTAs/PTOs. We had a great time at the game and especially enjoyed the WIN! ❤️

Tonight is THE night! Come out to support SFSD elementary schools without PTAs/PTOs as the Sioux Falls STORM take on the Green Bay Blizzard. It's also Star Wars night, so wear your gear and bring your lightsaber to this fun family event sponsored by LEVO Credit Union!

The Weather Service indicates the greatest threat of severe weather did not materialize in Sioux Falls. We will begin our bus routes at approximately 3pm, so there will be a slight delay in getting elementary and middle school students home. High School dismisses at normal time.

Due to the weather 4-30-24, SFSD will hold all elementary students who walk or ride the bus until the system passes. We expect the system to arrive about 2:45pm and be done around 3pm. Busses will not leave the elementary schools until it is safe to do so. This will also cause a delay in middle school bus routes, so plan accordingly. If wx is still an issue at high school dismissal time, we will encourage students to wait to leave until the system passes. Thank you.

Weather may cause some challenges at school dismissal time today. SFSD will make plans with your child's safety as our highest priority. If there are changes, parents/guardians will be contacted immediately. We ask that you please monitor your phone and email closely.

Football & Star Wars Fans Unite! Fri, May 3-7:05pm Sioux Falls STORM take on the Green Bay Blizzard to support Operation Hope & Caring, a fundraiser for SFSD elementary schools without PTAs. Wear Star Wars gear, grab a light saber, and get in on the fun!
